Depression is a serious illness. Health professionals use the terms depression, depressive illness or clinical depression to refer to something very different from the common experience of feeling miserable or fed-up for a short period of time.

When you are depressed, you may have feelings of extreme sadness, hopelessness or what is the point to my life, that can last for a very long time. These feelings are severe enough to interfere with your daily life, and can last for weeks or months, rather than days.

About 15% of people will have a bout of severe depression at some point in their lives. However, the exact number of people with depression is hard to estimate because many people do not get help, or are not formally diagnosed with the condition.

Women are twice as likely to suffer from depression as men, although men are far more likely to commit suicide. This may be because men are more reluctant to seek help for depression.

Depression can affect people of any age, including children. Studies have shown that 2% of teenagers in the UK are affected by depression.

People with a family history of depression are more likely to experience depression themselves. Depression affects people in many different ways and can cause a wide variety of physical, psychological and anti-social symptoms.

A few people still think that depression is not a real illness and that it is a form of weakness or admission of failure. That is simply not true. Depression is a real illness with real effects, and it is certainly not a sign of failure. In fact, most famous leaders all experienced bouts of depression.

It is extremely important that you seek professional help to assist you with dealing and absolving your depression. You do not need to suffer this destructive illness any longer, drug free assistance is available to you.

Consider Neurofeedback Therapy as a drug free non invasive therapy that trains your brain to work more effectively that will help you to absolve, de habilitating, low mood, negative, depressive and anxious thoughts.

What is Neurofeedback Therapy?

Neurofeedback Therapy is the use of computerised equipment to record a person’s brainwaves by attaching sensors to your head.  These are then converted by the computer so that when desired or “good” brainwaves are produced a graphic display on the computer screen changes e.g. it could be a thermometer rising or a dolphin swimming or any other graphic display.

Latest developments in Neurofeedback Therapy makes use of the Brain AVATAR that enables you to see your brain wave activity in real time at any point inside your brain. Some people find this very exciting, interesting and very rewarding. The Brain AVATAR allows for precise location and requirements for re-training your Brain to function more efficiently and with enhanced performance.

Neurofeedback is sometimes called an “exercise for the brain.” It helps the individual to learn to regulate his or her brainwaves.

The scientific literature has examples of many problems that can be helped with neurofeedback.  These include: Anxiety, panic, depression and brain injury. Neurofeedback helps to grow and enable new neural networks, and much more.
